What is Reiki?

Finding balance with Reiki

Reiki provides the space to tune into your body and relax any tense areas, it provides time for calmness and stillness giving the mind space to let go of all those worries and stress and quiet the internal dialogues.


Our life force energy responds to our thoughts and feelings so by accepting, either consciously or subconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings, they disrupt our energy field and cause blocks in the flow of life force, creating emotional, physical, mental or spiritual issues. Reiki clears, unblocks and heals any disruptions allowing a healthy and natural flow of life force, alleviating and removing those issues you suffer with.

Reiki works just as well online, through ‘Distance Healing’, as it does in person and can be provided as a standalone treatment or as part of a holistic treatment alongside RTT.


Below are two examples of the benefits of reiki healing from independent, trusted medical sources:

  • 2015 study found that people being treated for cancer who received distant reiki in addition to regular medical care had lower levels of pain, anxiety, and fatigue. These levels were significantly lower than the control group, who only received medical care. Participants had 30-minute sessions of distant reiki for five days.

  • 2018 study compared the use of reiki to physiotherapy for relieving lower back pain in people with herniated disks. Both treatments were found to be equally effective at relieving pain, but reiki was more cost-effective and, in some cases, resulted in faster treatment.


What can I expect with a Reiki session?

How long do sessions last?

A Reiki session lasts between 45 mins and 1 hour.


How many sessions will I need?

Reiki stimulates the body's own natural healing ability and is capable of providing healing with a single session. However, with long-term issues continued treatment over a period of weeks provides cumulative benefits allowing the healing to build up and take full effect. An initial consultation will allow us to identify the number of sessions that would be recommended.


What happens in a Reiki session?

You’ll be asked to lie down or sit comfortably in a chair. Soft, relaxing music will be playing in the background. You will be fully clothed and I will move my hands around 2 couple of inches above your body.

Most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. Your body should feel relaxed and the mind calm. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session. Don’t worry though; you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake. You may experience sensations in the body such as heat or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations such as colours or pictures, or having memories appear. Try to allow whatever arises to pass without attaching too much meaning to it. Your experiences may become deeper the more you continue with Reiki.
